Operated by Harlequin Chesterfield Sofa Ltd, SLW Chesterfields hand-builds and sells leather sofas, chairs, tables, home accessories, patchwork furniture, leathers, beanbags, footstools, and storage boxes. These Terms of Service set out, in plain language, the agreement between us whenever you order from our website, by phone, or by email.
Ask Us About These TermsThese Terms of Service apply to every contract for goods supplied by SLW Chesterfields, whether placed through our website, over the phone, or by email, and to anyone browsing slwchesterfields.com. They cover sofas, chairs, tables, home accessories, patchwork furniture, leathers, beanbags, footstools, and storage boxes.
SLW Chesterfields is a trading name of Harlequin Chesterfield Sofa Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 15921383, with its registered office at 169 Tottington Road, Bolton, England, BL2 4DF. In these Terms, "we", "us", and "our" refer to Harlequin Chesterfield Sofa Ltd, and "you" and "your" refer to the customer.
By placing an order with us, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service, together with our Cancellation Policy, our Shipping Policy, and our Privacy Policy. Nothing in these Terms removes or reduces any statutory right you hold as a consumer under UK law.
We do our best to display product colours and finishes accurately, but no screen reproduces leather perfectly, and every monitor renders colour slightly differently. We offer a free leather swatch service, and we recommend requesting swatches before ordering a bespoke or custom-leather piece.
We take care to keep prices, descriptions, and availability on our website accurate and up to date. Occasionally an error may still occur; if it does, we will correct it as quickly as possible and will always contact you before any goods are produced if a pricing error affected your order.
You agree not to misuse our website, attempt to gain unauthorised access to it, or use it in a way that could damage, disable, or impair its operation, or interfere with other visitors' use of it.
No warranty on website materials: to the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all warranties as to the accuracy of general information published on our website (as distinct from the specific terms of your individual order), and we accept no liability for loss arising from reliance on such general content. Anything you download from our website is done at your own risk, and you are responsible for any resulting loss or damage to your own systems. This does not affect your statutory rights or our responsibility for the goods you actually purchase from us.
Because every piece is hand-built from a natural material, here is exactly what to expect from the leather, timber, and dimensions of your furniture.
Leather is a natural material and may show variation in colour, grain, and texture, along with healed scars, insect bites, and other natural markings consistent with genuine hide. Some leathers mellow with age and with exposure to sunlight and heat. These characteristics are not defects where they are consistent with the product description, and they do not affect your statutory rights if a piece is faulty, misdescribed, or materially different from the sample you were shown.
Dimensions shown on our website are approximate, and minor variations may occur due to the handmade nature of our furniture. We continuously develop our designs and reserve the right to amend product specifications for future sales, but we will not make a material change to the design, dimensions, covering, or specification agreed for your specific order without first obtaining your agreement.
All prices displayed on our website are in pounds sterling (GBP) and include VAT at the prevailing UK rate where applicable, together with delivery to mainland UK addresses. Any promotional offer or discount is applied automatically at checkout where it applies.
We take care to ensure prices on our website are accurate, but if an order is placed at an incorrect price, we reserve the right not to accept it. We will always tell you before any goods are produced if this situation arises, and no charge is taken without your agreement.
We accept payment by credit or debit card and bank transfer. Full payment is required before production of your goods begins, and any outstanding balance must be cleared before delivery — we do not release goods for delivery until payment has been received in full.
Placing an order is the first step in forming a contract between us, but the contract is only concluded once we confirm your order.
You submit your order and payment details through our website, by phone, or by email, including your chosen specification, leather, colour, and delivery address.
The contract between us is not concluded until we have received your valid payment details and confirmed acceptance of your order by email. We reserve the right to refuse any order at our discretion, for example where stock, pricing, or capacity issues arise.
Once your order is confirmed and payment received, we begin processing your order, which for bespoke, custom-leather, and Patchwork Collection pieces includes hand-building your furniture to your specification.
Full details of our delivery process, costs, and timings are set out in our Shipping Policy. The key contractual points are summarised here.
We deliver throughout the United Kingdom, including Northern Ireland, using our own delivery team. Additional charges may apply to Northern Ireland, the Scottish Highlands, islands, and other remote locations, and we will always confirm the applicable delivery charge before you place your order. All deliveries are subject to suitable access; our standard delivery team can carry furniture up a maximum of two flights of stairs, and higher deliveries require lift access or alternative arrangements made by you. It is your responsibility to arrange suitable parking for our delivery vehicle on the day; where this is not possible, we may offer a kerbside-only delivery or need to reschedule.
We will provide an estimated processing and delivery period before accepting your order, as set out in our Shipping Policy, and will contact you to arrange a suitable delivery date once your furniture is ready. Estimated delivery periods may be affected by circumstances outside our reasonable control, and we will notify you of any material delay. Please inspect your furniture at the time of delivery wherever reasonably possible and record any visible damage on the delivery paperwork, notifying us promptly with photographs. Failure to record damage at delivery does not affect your statutory rights.
Your right to change your mind, and your rights if goods are faulty or misdescribed, are explained in full in our dedicated Cancellation Policy. The key points are summarised here for clarity.
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, eligible standard goods ordered online, by phone, or by email may be cancelled within 14 days beginning the day after delivery, without needing to give a reason.
The statutory 14-day right does not apply to goods made to your individual specification or clearly personalised, including Patchwork Collection pieces and custom-leather orders, once production has begun. This is set out clearly on the relevant product page and at checkout.
Your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 if goods are faulty, not of satisfactory quality, or not as described are separate from the change-of-mind right, apply to bespoke pieces as well as standard stock, and are never affected by these Terms.
These provisions apply in addition to your statutory consumer rights, which are never affected by our guarantee.
All of our sofas, chairs, and upholstered stools carry a five-year manufacturer's guarantee covering the structural elements of the furniture. All other covered components carry a 12-month guarantee. Cracking of wood caused by extreme changes in room humidity or a direct heat source, such as air conditioning or radiators, is excluded. Trade customers are covered by a one-year trade guarantee only, and the guarantee remains with the original buyer and is not transferable.
The guarantee does not cover fading, neglect, misuse, water or weather damage, fire or theft, third-party accidental damage, or general wear and tear such as staining, abrasion, tears, and natural cushion settlement. To make a claim, contact us in writing with your proof of purchase as soon as an issue becomes apparent; delays in reporting may affect the outcome. We will endeavour to repair the goods free of charge, and if repair isn't possible, offer a replacement of similar or greater value, or, only if no suitable replacement is available, a refund.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. We will take reasonable care in delivering and installing your furniture. Beyond that, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, arising from defective, damaged, or wrongly delivered goods, over and above the value of the goods themselves — this does not affect your statutory rights.
We control and operate this website from our offices in England. If you access it from outside England and Wales, you do so on your own initiative, and you agree that any dispute between us will be governed by the laws of England and Wales, as set out in Section 12.
All content on this website, including our name, logo, product photography, designs, and written descriptions, is owned by or licensed to Harlequin Chesterfield Sofa Ltd and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. We regularly supply hotels, bars, pubs, and restaurants with bespoke banquette seating and fitted leather furniture. These orders are, in most respects, covered by the same Terms of Service as consumer orders, with the following differences.
Because trade and hospitality projects are typically bespoke, made-to-measure, and installed on-site, cancellation windows, deposit requirements, and any cancellation charges are set out in writing in your quotation or order confirmation before you commit.
Statutory consumer cancellation rights under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 apply to individuals acting outside a trade, business, craft, or profession, and do not apply to purchases made by a business. Trade guarantee terms are set out in Section 08.
If anything about your order falls short of what you expect, please contact us first, in writing, at slwchesterfields@icloud.com. We aim to acknowledge every complaint within 2 business days and to work with you directly to resolve it.
If we're unable to resolve a complaint directly to your satisfaction, you may refer the matter to a Trading Standards-approved alternative dispute resolution (ADR) provider. We will confirm the relevant ADR provider for our sector if a dispute reaches this stage. Using ADR is optional, and it does not affect your right to bring a claim through the UK courts.
These Terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or their subject matter, are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, though if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
We review these Terms of Service periodically to keep them accurate and aligned with current UK law. When we make a material change, we update the "Last updated" date at the bottom of this page. The version of these Terms in force at the time you place an order is the version that applies to that order; changes made after your order is confirmed do not apply retrospectively to it.
