Section 01

About our store

The essentials — who we are, what we sell, and where our furniture is made.

01Who is SLW Chesterfields?

SLW Chesterfields is a trading name of Harlequin Chesterfield Sofa Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 15921383. We design and hand-build leather Chesterfield sofas, armchairs, tables, home accessories, patchwork furniture, beanbags, footstools, and storage boxes at our own workshop rather than reselling mass-produced imports.

02Where are you based, and where is my furniture actually made?

Our registered office is at 169 Tottington Road, Bolton, England, BL2 4DF. Every piece is cut, upholstered, and finished by hand at our workshop at New Victoria Mills, Wellington Street, Bury, Greater Manchester, BL8 2A. We do not use third-party drop-shippers — if you order from us, it is built by us.

03Can I visit the workshop or showroom?

Our Bury workshop is open by appointment only. Email slwchesterfields@icloud.com or call +44 07947 700380 during business hours to arrange a visit and see leather samples in person before you order.

04What are your business hours?

We're available Monday to Friday, 09:00–18:00 (GMT), from our Bolton office. Enquiries received outside these hours, or over the weekend, are answered the next working day.

Section 02

Products & materials

What we sell, how the ranges differ, and how to choose leather with confidence.

01What product ranges do you sell?

We sell nine core ranges: Chesterfield and modern Sofas, Chairs (armchairs, classic, high-back, and office chairs), Tables (circular, rectangular, and square), Home Accessories, our Harlequin Patchwork Collection, Leathers, Beanbags, Footstools, and Storage Boxes. Full ranges and current designs are shown on the relevant category pages of this website.

02What is the Harlequin Patchwork Collection?

The Harlequin Patchwork Collection combines classic Chesterfield tufted styling with panels of contrasting coloured leather, hand-cut and stitched into a single piece. Every Patchwork sofa, chair, beanbag, and footstool is built to order to the colour combination you choose, so no two pieces leave our workshop identical.

03What leather types do you offer, and what's the difference?

We work with four leather families: Vintage (a distressed, waxed-crack finish), Pastel (soft, bright shades), Old English (a rich, traditional premium leather), and Antique (a rubbed-off, aged-look finish). Each leather page shows the full colour range and finish available for that family so you can compare texture and tone before ordering.

04Can I order a physical leather sample before committing to a sofa?

Yes. Because leather colour can look different on screen to in person, we recommend requesting samples before ordering a bespoke or Patchwork piece. Email slwchesterfields@icloud.com with the leather family and shades you're considering and we'll arrange this with you.

05Are your leather animal pieces made from the same materials as the sofas?

Yes — our leather animal pieces are hand-finished using offcuts and panels from the same leather families used across our furniture ranges, so the finish and durability match the rest of the collection.

06Do you supply furniture for hotels, bars, pubs, and restaurants?

Yes. We regularly build bespoke banquette seating and fitted leather furniture for the hospitality trade. See Section 08 for how commercial orders are quoted and agreed.

Section 03

Ordering & pricing

How to place an order, what our prices include, and how build time works for made-to-order pieces.

01How do I place an order?

You can order directly through the checkout on the relevant product page. If you're choosing a custom leather combination for a Patchwork or bespoke piece, or if you'd like to confirm details first, email slwchesterfields@icloud.com or call +44 07947 700380 and we'll confirm the specification in writing before you pay.

02Are the prices shown on the website final?

Yes. All prices on our website are shown in pounds sterling (GBP) and are inclusive of any applicable UK VAT. Shipping is calculated separately and shown clearly at checkout before you confirm payment, based on the order value bands set out in Section 05.

03What's the difference between a standard stock item and a bespoke order?

Home accessories, footstools, beanbags, and storage boxes shown in fixed, pre-set colours are standard stock items. Any Harlequin Patchwork Collection piece, and any sofa, chair, or footstool where you choose a specific leather colour, type, or panel combination, is built to your specification. This distinction matters for cancellation rights — see Section 06.

04How long does a bespoke or Patchwork order take to build?

Once your specification is confirmed, processing typically takes 1–7 business days (Monday–Friday) before your piece enters our delivery network, with a further 8–28 business days transit time to reach you, since each piece is hand-cut, upholstered, and finished individually. We will confirm an estimated timeframe for your specific order in writing when you place it.

05Can I change my leather colour or specification after ordering?

If we haven't yet begun cutting leather or building your piece, contact us as soon as possible and we will do our best to accommodate a change. Once production has started, changes may not be possible without cancelling and reordering — see Section 06 for how cancellation works on bespoke orders once work has begun.

06Will I receive confirmation of my order?

Yes. You'll receive a written order confirmation by email setting out the item, specification, price, and estimated delivery window. Please check this carefully and contact us immediately if anything looks incorrect.

Section 04

Payment & security

How you can pay, and how your payment details are protected.

01What payment methods do you accept?

We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, JCB, UnionPay, and Diners Club cards, along with PayPal, Klarna, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. Available options are shown at checkout and may vary slightly by device or browser.

02Is it safe to pay on your website?

Yes. Card and digital wallet payments are processed through encrypted, industry-standard payment gateways. We do not store your full card number on our own systems.

03Can I pay a deposit and settle the balance later?

For large bespoke or trade orders, we can sometimes agree a deposit and balance arrangement. This is agreed individually and confirmed in writing before your order is placed — contact us to discuss.

04When is my card actually charged?

Payment is taken at checkout when you place your order, unless we've agreed a separate deposit and balance arrangement with you in writing.

Section 05

Shipping & delivery

We currently ship exclusively to addresses within the United Kingdom, using our own delivery courier rather than a third-party parcel network — appropriate for the size and weight of our furniture.

Order valueShipping cost
£0.00 – £2,000.00£98.00
£2,000.01 – £3,000.00£150.00
£3,000.01 – £4,000.00£200.00
£4,000.01 – £5,000.00£250.00
£5,000.01 – £6,000.00£300.00
£6,000.01 – £7,000.00£350.00
Above £7,000.00£400.00
01Do you ship outside the United Kingdom?

No. At present we ship exclusively to addresses within the United Kingdom. We're not able to accept orders for delivery outside the UK.

02How is my shipping cost calculated?

Shipping is calculated as a flat fee based on your total order value, shown in the table above. The correct fee is applied automatically at checkout, and you'll always see it clearly before you confirm payment — there are no hidden charges added afterwards.

03What's your order cut-off time?

Orders placed before 14:00 (GMT), Monday to Friday, are logged into production or dispatch that same working day. Orders placed after 14:00, or over the weekend, are logged on the next working day.

04How long will my order take to arrive?

Processing takes 1–7 business days (Monday–Friday) once your order and specification are confirmed, followed by a transit time of 8–28 business days with our own delivery courier. Because every piece is individually hand-built, larger or more complex bespoke and Patchwork orders typically fall towards the longer end of this range. We'll keep you updated by email as your order progresses.

05Who delivers my furniture, and will someone need to be home?

We use our own delivery courier rather than a general parcel carrier, since our furniture is large and requires careful handling. Our team will contact you directly to agree a suitable delivery date and time, and someone will need to be present at the delivery address to receive and check the item.

06Can I track my order?

We provide progress updates by email as your order moves through production and into delivery scheduling. If you'd like an update at any point, email slwchesterfields@icloud.com or call +44 07947 700380 with your order reference.

07What should I check when my furniture is delivered?

Please inspect the item at the point of delivery wherever possible, and note any visible transit damage on the delivery paperwork before the courier leaves. If you spot a problem after the courier has gone, contact us straight away — see Section 07 for how we handle faulty or damaged goods.

Section 06

Cancellations & returns

A summary of your rights under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. Full detail is available on our dedicated Cancellation Policy page.

01Can I cancel my order if I simply change my mind?

If you've ordered a standard stock item, yes — you have 14 calendar days from the day after delivery to cancel without giving a reason, under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. Bespoke and Patchwork pieces are treated differently once production has begun; see the next question.

02Can I cancel a bespoke or Patchwork order?

Under Regulation 28(1)(b) of the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, goods made to your specification are excluded from the standard 14-day change-of-mind right once we begin production. You can still cancel free of charge for a short window after ordering, before we begin cutting leather or building your piece. Once production has started, cancellation is at our discretion and may involve a charge for materials and labour already committed — we'll always confirm your specific position individually rather than apply a blanket rule.

03How do I cancel an order?

Email slwchesterfields@icloud.com, call +44 07947 700380, or write to us at 169 Tottington Road, Bolton, England, BL2 4DF, including your order reference. We'll confirm your cancellation in writing within 2 business days.

04If my order has already been delivered, how do I return it?

You must tell us you wish to cancel, and then return the item within 14 days of doing so. Given the size of most of our furniture, we arrange a collection with you directly rather than asking you to ship it yourself. Unless the item is faulty or not as described, you're responsible for the direct cost of return collection, which we'll quote clearly before arranging it.

05When and how will I get my refund?

Refunds are made to your original payment method. If your order hasn't shipped, you're refunded within 14 days of your cancellation request. If it has been delivered, you're refunded within 14 days of us receiving the goods back, or of receiving evidence you've sent them back, whichever is earlier.

06Will any deductions be made from my refund?

You're entitled to handle and inspect the item as you would in a shop. If its value has been reduced by handling beyond that, we may deduct a fair amount to reflect the reduction in value — and we'll always explain any deduction clearly, in writing, before finalising your refund.

Section 07

Faulty goods & warranty

These rights are separate from, and broader than, the 14-day change-of-mind right, and they apply to bespoke and Patchwork pieces as well as standard stock.

01What happens if my item arrives faulty or damaged?

Contact us straight away at slwchesterfields@icloud.com with your order reference and photographs of the issue. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, if an item is faulty, not of satisfactory quality, or not as described, you have a short-term right to reject it for a full refund within the first 30 days of delivery.

02What if a fault appears after the first 30 days?

You're entitled to a repair or replacement. If that isn't possible, doesn't resolve the fault, or isn't provided within a reasonable time, you can request a price reduction or a full refund, in line with the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

03Does this apply to bespoke and Patchwork pieces too?

Yes. The made-to-specification exemption described in Section 06 covers change-of-mind cancellation only. It does not remove your right to a repair, replacement, or refund if a Patchwork or custom-leather piece arrives faulty or does not match what you specified.

04How do you handle a repair or replacement collection?

We'll agree the most practical option with you directly, whether that's an on-site repair, a replacement part, or a full collection and replacement. When an item is faulty or not as described, we cover the reasonable cost of collection or return.

Section 08

Trade & hospitality orders

We supply hotels, bars, pubs, and restaurants with bespoke banquette seating and fitted leather furniture, handled under terms suited to commercial projects.

01How does a trade or hospitality order differ from a consumer order?

Statutory consumer cancellation rights under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 apply only to individuals acting outside a trade, business, craft, or profession. Trade and hospitality projects are typically bespoke, made-to-measure, and installed on-site, so cancellation windows, deposit requirements, and any cancellation charges are set out in writing in your individual quotation or order confirmation before you commit.

02Do I still get consumer-style protection on a trade order?

Even though statutory consumer cancellation rights don't extend to business purchases, we apply the same standard of clear communication, fair dealing, and written confirmation to every trade order that we apply to consumer orders.

03How do I request a quote for a hospitality project?

Email slwchesterfields@icloud.com with your venue details, seating requirements, and any site measurements, and we'll arrange a consultation and written quotation.

Section 09

Care & aftercare

Simple guidance to keep your leather furniture looking its best for years to come.

01How should I care for my leather furniture day to day?

Keep leather pieces away from direct heat sources such as radiators and open fires, and out of prolonged direct sunlight, which can dry and fade the leather over time. Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth.

02Can I clean spills myself?

Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth rather than rubbing, and allow the leather to air dry naturally. Avoid household cleaning sprays or solvents, as these can damage the leather's finish. If you're unsure, contact us for guidance specific to your leather type before attempting to clean a stain.

03Do beanbags and footstools need different care to sofas?

The same leather-care principles apply. Beanbags benefit from an occasional gentle reshape and rotation to keep the fill distributed evenly, while footstools and storage boxes should be kept on a level surface to avoid uneven wear on the base.

Section 10

Privacy & data

How we handle the personal information you share with us when you place an order.

01What personal information do you collect, and why?

We collect the information needed to process your order and arrange delivery, such as your name, delivery address, email, and phone number, along with payment details handled securely by our payment providers. Full detail on what we collect and why is set out in our Privacy Policy.

02Do you share my data with anyone else?

We only share what's needed to fulfil your order — for example, with our delivery courier and payment processor. We don't sell your personal data. See our Privacy Policy for the complete picture.
