Section 01

Who this policy covers

Every order placed with us

This Shipping Policy applies to every order placed with SLW Chesterfields, whether through our website, over the phone, or by email — covering sofas, chairs, tables, home accessories, patchwork pieces, leathers, beanbags, footstools, and storage boxes, regardless of which product page you ordered from.

Consumers and trade buyers

The costs, timings, and delivery process below apply to both individual consumers and to hotels, bars, pubs, and restaurants ordering bespoke banquette seating or fitted furniture. Where a trade order needs a different delivery arrangement, this is agreed with you in writing before your order is confirmed.

SLW Chesterfields is owned and operated by Harlequin Chesterfield Sofa Ltd, registered in England and Wales (Company No. 15921383). Every piece is hand-built at our workshop, New Victoria Mills, Wellington Street, Bury, BL8 2A, and delivered to you using our own in-house delivery team. This policy does not reduce any statutory right you have under UK consumer law, and it should be read alongside our Cancellation Policy and Returns & Refunds Policy.

Section 02

Where we deliver

We currently deliver exclusively to addresses within the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland). We do not ship internationally, and we do not ship to addresses outside the UK, including BFPO addresses, at this time.

UK mainland and beyond

UK Only

We deliver throughout mainland England, Scotland, and Wales, as well as Northern Ireland. Because much of our furniture is large and hand-finished, some remote postcodes — including certain Scottish Highlands, island, and rural addresses — may involve a longer transit time or an adjusted delivery cost, which we will always confirm with you before dispatch.

No international shipping

Not Available

We do not currently offer shipping outside the United Kingdom. If your delivery address is outside the UK, please do not place an order, as we will be unable to fulfil it. We are happy to discuss future availability by email if you contact us at slwchesterfields@icloud.com.

Section 03

Order cut-off and processing time

Because every piece is hand-built or hand-finished to order at our Bury workshop, processing time begins once your order and payment are confirmed.

Daily order cut-off

Orders placed before 14:00 (GMT), Monday to Friday, are logged into production or dispatch that same business day. Orders placed after 14:00, or on a weekend or UK bank holiday, are logged the next business day.

Processing time

Processing takes 1 to 7 business days, Monday to Friday, and covers order verification, quality checks on ready-made stock, and preparing your item for our delivery team. Processing time is separate from, and additional to, transit time.

Transit time

Once dispatched, transit to your delivery address takes 8 to 28 business days, depending on your location, the size of your piece, and our delivery team's route scheduling in your area.

Why the range is wide: most SLW Chesterfields furniture is hand-built to order rather than picked from a warehouse shelf. Patchwork Collection pieces and any item ordered in a custom leather colour or combination naturally sit toward the longer end of the processing window, since production only begins once your specification is confirmed. We will always give you a more specific estimate for your particular item when you order, and we'll keep you updated if anything changes.

Section 04

Delivery method and shipping costs

We use our own in-house delivery courier for every order, rather than a third-party parcel carrier. This lets us handle large, hand-finished furniture with the care it needs, from loading at our workshop through to placing it in your room of choice.

Our own delivery courier

All deliveries are carried out by our own delivery team using our own vehicles. We do not use Royal Mail, DPD, or other third-party couriers for furniture orders, which means one point of contact from dispatch to your doorstep.

Cost is based on order value

Shipping is calculated on the total value of your order, not on weight, item count, or postcode. The exact cost is always shown at checkout before you pay, so there is never a surprise charge.

Shipping cost by order value

Order valueShipping cost
£0.00 – £2,000.00£98.00
£2,000.01 – £3,000.00£150.00
£3,000.01 – £4,000.00£200.00
£4,000.01 – £5,000.00£250.00
£5,000.01 – £6,000.00£300.00
£6,000.01 – £7,000.00£350.00
£7,000.01 and above£400.00

All shipping costs shown above are in pounds sterling (GBP) and include VAT where applicable. The relevant shipping cost is calculated automatically from your basket total and displayed at checkout before you confirm payment, so you always know the full cost of your order — including delivery — in advance.

Section 05

From order to doorstep

Here is the real sequence your order follows, from checkout to delivery, so you always know what stage it's at.

Day of order

Order placed and confirmed

You receive an order confirmation email summarising your item, specification, delivery address, and the total cost including shipping.

1–7 business days

Processing and, where applicable, production

Standard stock items are checked and prepared for our delivery team. Bespoke, custom-leather, and Patchwork Collection pieces are hand-built to your specification during this stage.

Dispatch

Handover to our delivery team

Once your item passes final inspection, it is loaded for delivery. We email you to confirm dispatch and give you an estimated delivery window.

8–28 business days

Transit

Our own delivery team transports your piece to your address. We contact you directly to arrange a suitable delivery day and, where needed, a time window.

Delivery day

Delivered and placed in your room

Our team delivers, unpacks, and positions your furniture in your chosen room, and removes the packaging with them, as described in Section 07.

Section 06

Order confirmation and tracking

Because we use our own delivery team rather than a third-party network, tracking works a little differently to a standard parcel courier — and we make sure you're never left wondering where your order stands.

Order confirmation

Sent to your email immediately after checkout, confirming your item, specification, delivery address, and order reference.

Dispatch notification

Sent by email when your item leaves our workshop, along with an estimated delivery window for your address.

Delivery-day contact

Our delivery team contacts you directly by phone or email in the days before delivery to confirm and, where needed, agree a specific time slot.

If you would like an update on your order at any time, contact us at slwchesterfields@icloud.com or call +44 07947 700380 with your order reference, and we will confirm exactly what stage your order has reached.

Section 07

On the day of delivery

Because most of our furniture is large, hand-built, and delivered by our own team rather than left on a doorstep, a little preparation on your part helps delivery go smoothly.

Someone needs to be present

An adult must be available at the delivery address to receive, inspect, and sign for the item. We are unable to leave large furniture unattended, in a porch, or with a neighbour.

Access and room of choice

Our team will carry your item into your home and position it in your room of choice. Please let us know in advance about narrow doorways, staircases, lifts, or any other access restrictions so we can plan accordingly.

Inspect before the team leaves

We encourage you to check your item while our delivery team is still on site, so that any transit damage or discrepancy can be noted and resolved immediately.

Packaging removal

Our team removes all delivery packaging with them when they leave, so you are not left to dispose of it yourself.

Section 08

Missed or failed deliveries

If no one is available

If nobody is present to receive your delivery at the agreed time, our team will attempt to contact you and, where possible, wait a reasonable period. If the delivery cannot proceed, we will contact you to arrange a new date.

Redelivery costs

A first redelivery attempt after a genuinely missed appointment is arranged free of charge. Where repeated failed attempts result from incorrect address details you provided or persistent unavailability, we may apply a reasonable additional charge to cover our delivery team's time and mileage, which we will always confirm with you before rebooking.

Section 09

Delays beyond our control

We work hard to meet the processing and transit windows in Section 03, but as a small workshop delivering large, hand-built furniture, some circumstances are outside our control.

Severe weather and road conditions

Snow, flooding, or unsafe road conditions can delay our delivery team's routes, particularly to rural or remote addresses.

Material and supply delays

Occasionally a specific leather colour, hide, or component takes longer to reach us than expected, which can extend the production stage for bespoke orders.

Bank holidays and seasonal demand

UK bank holidays and periods of high seasonal demand can extend both processing and transit times beyond the usual estimate.

We will keep you informed. If we become aware that your order will take meaningfully longer than the estimate given at checkout, we will contact you by email or phone with an updated timescale. If a delay becomes excessive, you retain your statutory right to cancel and receive a full refund, as set out in our Cancellation Policy.

Section 10

Damaged, missing, or incorrect items

If something isn't right when your order arrives, tell us as soon as possible so we can put it right quickly.

Arrived damaged

Note it on the delivery paperwork if possible, and email us photographs within 48 hours so we can arrange a repair, replacement, or refund.

Wrong item or specification

If what arrived doesn't match your order confirmation — wrong leather, colour, or product — contact us immediately and we will arrange collection and correction at no cost to you.

Part missing

If a component, cushion, or accessory is missing from your delivery, let us know your order reference and we will dispatch the missing part promptly.

These rights sit alongside, and do not replace, your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 for faulty or misdescribed goods, which are explained in full in our Cancellation Policy.

Section 11

How we update this policy

We review this Shipping Policy periodically to keep our costs, timescales, and delivery process accurate and aligned with current UK regulations. When we make a material change, we update the "Last updated" date at the bottom of this page. The version in force at the time you place an order is the version that applies to that order.
