Our story

A workshop-first business

SLW Chesterfields was built around a simple idea: leather furniture should be cut, upholstered, and finished by hand, by people who take pride in the work, rather than assembled on a mass production line. Every piece that leaves our Bury workshop has passed through the hands of our own upholsterers, not a third-party factory.

From trade supply to direct-to-customer

Our team's craftsmanship experience was built supplying Chesterfield furniture into the trade. SLW Chesterfields is our storefront for offering that same hand-built approach directly to individual customers, alongside the hotels, bars, pubs, and restaurants we continue to supply.

We deliberately keep our range focused — sofas, chairs, tables, home accessories, patchwork furniture, leathers, beanbags, footstools, and storage boxes — so that every product on this website is something we genuinely build or select ourselves, rather than a catalogue padded out with items we don't stand behind.

Section 02

What we make

Nine focused ranges, each built with the same standard of leather and craftsmanship.

Standard ranges

Our sofas, chairs, tables, and home accessories are available in fixed leather colours and finishes, shown clearly on each product page, so you know exactly what you're ordering.

The Harlequin Patchwork Collection

Our Patchwork range combines classic Chesterfield tufted styling with panels of contrasting coloured leather, hand-cut and stitched to the colour combination you choose. Every Patchwork piece is built to order specifically for you.

Section 03

How we work

From the moment you choose your leather to the day your furniture arrives, here's what actually happens at our workshop.

1

Leather is chosen

You select a fixed stock colour, or specify a custom combination for a bespoke or Patchwork piece.

2

Hides are cut by hand

Each panel is measured and cut individually to the frame and specification of your order.

3

Upholstered & tufted

Our upholsterers stitch, tuft, and finish each piece by hand, checking quality at every stage.

4

Inspected & delivered

Every piece is inspected before it leaves the workshop, then delivered by our own courier team.

Processing and delivery times: once your specification is confirmed, processing typically takes 1–7 business days, with a further 8–28 business days transit time, since each piece is individually hand-built rather than picked from a warehouse shelf.

Section 04

Who we serve

Private customers

Most of our customers are individuals furnishing their own homes, whether choosing a ready-made piece or specifying a fully bespoke Patchwork sofa or chair.

Hotels, bars, pubs & restaurants

We also supply the hospitality trade with bespoke banquette seating and fitted leather furniture, quoted and agreed under individually written commercial terms.

Section 05

Where we ship & deliver

United Kingdom only

We currently ship exclusively to addresses within the United Kingdom, using our own delivery courier rather than a third-party parcel network, given the size and weight of our furniture.

Order cut-off and processing

Orders placed before 14:00 (GMT), Monday to Friday, are logged into production or dispatch that same working day. Processing typically takes 1–7 business days, with a further 8–28 business days transit time.

Section 06

Our commitment to you

Straightforward promises, backed by clear written policies on every order.

Clear cancellation rights

Standard stock items carry a full 14-day change-of-mind right. Bespoke and Patchwork orders are explained clearly at checkout and in our Cancellation Policy.

Transparent pricing

Prices shown on our website are final and inclusive of applicable UK VAT. Shipping costs are calculated openly by order value and shown before you pay — never added as a surprise afterwards.

Full consumer protection

Your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 apply to every order, standard or bespoke. Faulty or misdescribed goods are repaired, replaced, or refunded — see our Returns & Refunds Policy.

Section 07

Business identity & registration

Full transparency on who you're buying from — required reading before you place an order with any UK retailer.
