SLW Chesterfields is a trading name of Harlequin Chesterfield Sofa Ltd, a family-run leather furniture workshop based in Bury, Greater Manchester, with over 45 years of hand-crafting heritage behind it. Unless a specific page states otherwise, every part of this website — its text, photography, product designs, patchwork artwork, layout, and the SLW Chesterfields and Harlequin names — is either owned by Harlequin Chesterfield Sofa Ltd or used under a licence that permits its display here.

Original product designs
Beyond copyright in our photographs and text, the shape, proportions, and surface decoration of a piece of furniture can independently qualify for design protection under UK law.
The Harlequin Patchwork Collection
The specific panel layouts, colour groupings, and stitching patterns used in our Harlequin Patchwork Collection sofas, chairs, beanbags, and footstools are original designs developed by our workshop. The shape and surface pattern of these pieces are protected as unregistered design right under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988, and may also be protected as artistic works where they show sufficient originality.
Named ranges (Cambridgeshire, Berkshire, and others)
The names we give our sofa and chair ranges are used as product identifiers within our own catalogue. The distinctive combination of a range name with our own frame design, tufting pattern, and finish — as shown and described on the corresponding product page — is part of what we consider our original design work, even where the name itself is a common place name.
What this does not cover: we do not claim rights over the general concept of a Chesterfield-style sofa, a tufted button-back, or a patchwork leather panel as a style of furniture — these are traditional, widely used design forms. What is protected is our own specific execution: the particular proportions, panel arrangement, and finish of each piece as we build and photograph it.
Product photography and accuracy
Because our furniture is handcrafted from natural leather, we want to be completely transparent about how our imagery is produced and what it does, and does not, guarantee about colour and appearance.
How our images are created
TransparencyThe majority of images on this website are original photographs of the actual pieces we build, taken in our workshop or on location. Where a room-setting or concept image has been produced with the assistance of digital rendering or AI-based image tools — for example, to illustrate a hospitality installation before it is built — we aim to keep this to promotional or concept material rather than the primary product photograph relied upon at checkout, and we will correct any image found to be misleading.
Natural leather and colour variation
TransparencyLeather is a natural material, so grain, marking, and tone will vary slightly from hide to hide and piece to piece. Screen calibration also affects how colour appears on different devices. Product images are a genuine and accurate representation of the item, but small natural variation between the image and the delivered piece is normal and expected, and is not a fault.

"SLW Chesterfields", our logo, and the "Harlequin Patchwork Collection" name are trading names and brand identifiers of Harlequin Chesterfield Sofa Ltd. They may not be used on another website, marketplace listing, or piece of marketing material without our prior written permission, whether or not the word "Ltd" or "®" appears alongside them.

Where we refer to legislation, government bodies, payment providers, or delivery partners, those are the trademarks or trading names of their respective owners and are used only to describe our services accurately, not to suggest endorsement by them.

Copying our Patchwork panel designs
Replicating the specific panel layout, colourway, or stitching pattern of our Harlequin Patchwork Collection for a competing product, whether handmade or manufactured, without a licence from us.

Reviews and customer content
If you send us a photo or review
If you send us a photograph of your delivered furniture, or leave a written review, you remain the owner of that content. By sending it to us, you give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to display it on this website and our social media pages, crediting you where practical, unless you ask us not to.
Withdrawing permission
You can ask us to remove a photograph or review you previously shared with us at any time by emailing slwchesterfields@icloud.com, and we will remove it from the website and our social channels within a reasonable time.
Reporting infringement of our content
If you come across our photography, product descriptions, or Patchwork designs being used without permission on another website, marketplace, or social media page, please let us know.

Send us the web address of the page in question and, if possible, a screenshot or description of which image, text, or design has been copied.

We check the report against our own records to confirm the content in question originates from Harlequin Chesterfield Sofa Ltd.
We take appropriate action
